Spotlight on Silverthorne - Summer 2008
A WINERY AT 9,000 feet?
Now, wait a minute. Grapes don’t grow at this elevation. But, D’Vine Wine has addressed that issue.
Called “your personal winery,” D’Vine Wine receives grapes from California’s Napa Valley and ferments them on its premises in Silverthorne, creating 18 varieties. Of course, there are the traditional reds, whites and fruit-flavors in addition to a pinot grigio, chocolate port and blackberry merlot. But if you don’t care for any of these choices, D’Vine Wine will customize a blend just for you. After the necessary weeks of fermentation, return to claim your batch of wine with a personalized picture label.
D’Vine Wine has become a popular gathering place, with its daily tastings and sales (Sundays included). For a special treat, try the Friday evening "Music, Massage and Merlot,” which includes live acoustic music, a $1 per minute chair massage and $5 glass of merlot. During Thursday’s game night, play Scrabble or Monopoly while tasting a glass of your favorite. There also are classic movie nights (‘50s and ‘60s flicks) and a Hollywood gossip night.
D’Vine Wine is located at 358 Blue River Parkway. For more information, call 970-468-9377 or visit or visit www.wineryinsilverthorne.com.

THE OLD WEST LIVES
Kick the images of cities and resorts off your shoes and get down to Old West basics at the 27th Annual Mountain Community Fair, July 18-20, 2008 at Silverthorne’s fairgrounds. Go back to a time when horses were the transport of necessity, and rodeo was a way of life.
Get dusty during the bull riding and steer wrestling events and wash a dry throat at the Friday and Saturday beer garden. Marvel as 4-H kids perform gymkhana speed events on horseback.
Chow down at a number of favorite food vendors while immersing yourself in the way things used to be. And tap your toes, kick up your heels and let your hair down when country western bands play their hearts out.
